Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka Op. 214

I had an unforgettable date with my favourite boys in sailor uniforms last night,
who delivered each song with rosy cheeks and unadulterated innocence;
Johann Strauss’ polkas and Emperor Waltz,
Queen’s masterpieces and crowd favourites from ABBA.
One boy could not stop yawning
(he must’ve been jetlagged),
while another spent what must have been a full minute,
finding the correct lyrics page,
but [...]

You’ll never look at dinner the same way again

A summary of my past couple of weeks and the next one.
The Unguarded Moment by Steve McCurry

The exhibition at the Asian Civilisations Museum showcases a selection of McCurry’s works, including the world’s most recognised photograph -the above “Afghan Girl”. Most of his displayed photographs were taken in Asia, especially India.
I like how McCurry believes that [...]

P-p-p-poker face!

Speaking of film reminds me that I’ve bought a pile of DVDs which are [...]

[...]

Much Ado About Nothing

After missing the first two Shakespeare in the Park productions, I finally caught SRT’s Much Ado About Nothing at Fort Canning Green last night. Awesome stage and props, although the portrayal of Act 4, Scene i kinda raised my eyebrows (a Chinese wedding in Sicily in the 1600s? Surely that’s pushing the envelope a little [...]

Why Will the Summer Day Delay — When Will Time Flow Away?

As much as I was charmed by the flamboyant Rum Tum Tugger and Grizabella’s pitch-purrrfect rendition of Memory, I’m sorry to say that Cats the musical isn’t as phenomenal as I had hoped it would be.

The musical is composed by the genius Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats and other poems by the [...]
