Mr Brightside

Mmmm. Nothing compares to getting good live music after a hard day’s work.

Had almost forgotten how much I enjoy lounging around watching live music until last night, when a group of us caught Timmy! live at Timbre. Never mind that we had to queue for like an hour to get a table. I love the songs that the band chose to play, especially those from John Mayer and Alanis Morissette. Very chill-out-ish, nothing heavy. I like.

On a bimbotic note, the drummer is kinda hot, I thought AT FIRST. He’s like this tall, pretty well-built guy with some spunky hairstyle which actually looks good on him (I’m normally quite picky when it comes to guys’ hairstyles). And most importantly, he could kick some solid ass with his tight drum skills.

Unfortunately, towards the end of the band’s third set, the crowd bullied this drummer chap into singing and so he started to open his mouth. And guess what? It was like BZIIIIIIING……. his attractiveness level plunged all the way down to -23661912369 units.

Blah. That just goes to show how some musicians should just stick to their cool factor and what they do best :p

Anyways, I’m still yet to head to Wala Wala -which is a horrendously unforgivable sin since it’s practically right outside my doorstep. I wanna catch EIC and The UneXpected, man!

In the meantime, some backlogged updates for you.

  • Caught Grease at the National Museum’s open-air cinema last weekend. Verdict: they should organize more outdoor screenings!
  • Was at Ben & Jerry’s at The Cathay on Thursday night to catch Ivan’s group of friends perform. The lead vocalist has written some really awesome songs! The showcase was also some kind of a wake-up call because I didn’t know that Ben & Jerry’s outlet has got quite a neat gig space.
  • On the work front, had lunch with my Coach and the other Coachees under her some time last week. They’re basically a nice bunch of people, just that we tune in to different frequencies, I guess (think 881 vs Hairspray).
  • Met up with Meta, who was here in transit, for ramen 2 days ago. It was a pity she couldn’t join Melia, Ivan and me at Timbre. Get well soon and have fun at home, Met!
  • Went for an Argentine Tango workshop at The Esplanade yesterday, which is part of the DA:NS Festival 2007. It was interesting, but man I really suck at tango.

On next week: looking forward to meet-ups and Hairspray!

P.S. It just struck me recently that guys whom I tend to find attractive are those who play a musical instrument or two. I guess I adore the fact that they are passionate about what they do :)
