And I’m 5 hours ahead.

I’m back home right now, safe and sound, hardly suffering from any jet lag. But here’s the complete story:

Left Vienna on 6 July with a heavy heart (and rather overweight luggage). Was supposed to reach Singapore on the following day, but Vienna wouldn’t let us go (or so I’d like to think) as our pilot decided to make a U-turn after flying for half an hour. There was something wrong with the landing gear, and we landed back in Vienna.

Spent the night at a hotel opposite the Vienna International Airport (all paid for by Emirates, of course) and missed my connecting flight. The transit in Dubai was supposed to only be 3-hour long but we ended up staying the night in the city (also paid for by Emirates, hurhur).

Eventually reached Singapore one day later than planned, moved some of my stuff to my new flat, went for dinner with my JC class, ran some errands and then flew home yesterday.

Found myself with quite a number of things to do at home:

  • Get a haircut (done today, love it!)
  • Indulge self with facial + creambath + mani-pedi
  • Get my eyes checked and buy a new pair of spectacles
  • Get some office wear
  • Develop Euro Trip photos

… and also in Singapore:

  • Move the rest of my stuff to my new flat *groans*
  • Prepare all the documents necessary for the Permanent Residence application
  • Go for a medical check-up
  • Sit for a placement test at Goethe-Institut or Alliance Française (or both?)
  • Look through my Tax notes before work commences

I miss Vienna already, but I guess at least there’s the Convocation to look forward to ;)

Spent my last day in Vienna’s city centre at Cafe Ritter,

the very first cafe that I went to in Vienna.

That’s the very table where we huddled up that day,

each with a warm cup of coffee or tea,

sheltering ourselves from the freezing cold winter wind outside.

I remember.
