… are finally here!
I had a good time that weekend. Would love to do more voluntary work in the arts scene!
The Drama Centre at the National Library. Nothing as grand as The Esplanade, bien sur, ‘cos it was designed mainly for staging local plays/musicals.
Part of the interior
Our main publicity booth
We had a Wishing Taugeh for kids (since it’s a family musical) to put up their wishes
I’m not at all good with kids but they could be really cute when they’re not wailing and throwing tantrums :)
Ain’t that the sweetest?
Some exhibits in the Drama Centre
They were of W!ld Rice’s past productions
Cheryl & me
With Grace, another volunteer, and Ina+Esther, who were interning at W!ld Rice
More volunteers. The guy sitting in the middle is studying in NIE, so we all called him Mr Teng, hurhur. The guy at the back is Alvin -he can see ghosts and stuff.
The thing we did to while away time while waiting for the intermission. That, and listening to Alvin’s horror stories. Hurhur.
Tan Kheng Hua! One of Singapore’s best actresses, I’d say. Her husband, Lim Yu Beng, was also there. It was their third time watching the musical, in which their daughter was involved.
The CD signing session after the musical
With Ivan Heng, the founder of W!ld Rice who also played Jack’s mum. He’s really nice!
Finally, with the rest of the leading cast! The guy in blue is Sebastian Tan, who played Jack. You might recognize him from Broadway Beng. He’s also just held his own solo performance, Just Sebastian, at the Esplanade Recital Studio a couple of days ago. A talented singer, I’d say. My favourite is Karen Tan, though (in gold, next to Sebastian). First saw her work in Channel 5’s Chase -she’s goood.
Oh oh, guess whom I bumped into when Cheryl and I used our complimentary tickets the following Tuesday!
MR DANIEL CHUNG, my GP tutor!
He’s like my all-time favourite tutor, can! So many JC students hate GP but I say I loved it, man!
Anyway, hadn’t seen him for 3 years or so, so it was a pleasant surprise to see him again. He came with someone who seemed to be his younger brother. Didn’t age one bit, Mr Chung. And he’s still teaching at TJ! I miss his GP lessons :(
p.s. More Jack & the Beansprout photos here. Also updated the photo album with Indo NTU-NBS yearbook pictures, so check them out :)
