V for Voiture

Was supposed to have my French oral exam at 2pm today. At 140pm, Jean, who was supposed to have hers at 130pm, called.

Jean: Anesia, where did Nicolas (our tutor) say we’re supposed to find Isabelle for our oral exam?

Me: Umm… language lab, right?

Jean: But it’s locked and she’s not here! I checked upstairs (where our usual classrom is) too, and she’s not there!

Me: ???

I went up to the language lab and found Weiliang and Jean waiting anxiously for Isabelle to come. We waited for 10 minutes (“Maybe she’s having lunch,” I speculated) but even after 20 minutes, she was nowhere to be seen.

“Maybe Nicolas forgot to tell her,” Weiliang proposed, while Jean was all too happy about the prospect of our oral exams being waived.

We decided to call the general office, who in turn contacted Sabine, the course coordinator. Sabine then called Weiliang saying she hadn’t been able to contact Isabelle all day, but she’d see what she could do about us being stranded without an examiner.

Alriiiiight. Maybe Jean hadn’t been too optimistic. Hurhur.

We waited till 330pm (studying for our AA 304 quiz tomorrow *sighs*) when Isabelle finally called. She said she was sorry that SHE FORGOT ABOUT OUR ORAL EXAMS.

*faints*

Anyhoos. She was not in school, so she quickly arranged for 3 other French tutors to conduct the exams for us.

I finally had mine at 430pm. My topic was Racontez Un Voyage, which was reasonable, I thought. And then a disaster struck. Midway through the conversation, I forgot what “car” is called in French!

Darn.

I’ve known the word (it’s voiture) since Level 1 and it just had to slip off my mind during my Level 3 exam.

Blah blah.
