Notre Dame de Paris, c’est une pièce superbe! Je l’aime beaucoup! I’m so glad I went for the opening night =)

To start off with, amazing props! It was probably because the Esplanade Theatre couldn’t afford to accommodate the sheer scale of them that the production has to be staged at the Indoor Stadium (not that I’m complaining). Well, try this: Requiring about eight 40-foot (12m) containers just for the 20-tonne stage set and props, the production also features a couple of 100kg bells not to mention a troupe made up of more than 60 performers and crew. It was a pity that there wasn’t much of an acrobatic treat that the commercials promised, and also the fact that they made the Le Val d’Amour scene less juicy than the last time I saw it at the preview *sulks*, but fortunately the very powerful vocals made up for them. From the start right through the end: absolutely world-class.

Of course, not to forget, the emotion! I love how the whole thing about this show is so intense, especially when Esmeralda and Quasimodo start to sing! Yes, even when I was struggling to understand the very poetic French the whole musical is in, I could feel the shivers down my neck (never mind my intermittent distracting peeps at the subtitle screens by the stage). 

On a side note, Gringoire is HOT HOT HOT! He’s definitely my favourite among the cast! I was sitting at least 10 metres away from the stage, yet I could feel the sexiness vibe that he exudes, eheheh…

Am so gonna watch Notre Dame de Paris on DVD over and over again once exams are over! =D
